inform the general population that it is healthy to receive guidance from a professional, without having a crisis or serious issue that has formed into a serious problem. We treat each person like a “guest”, rather than a patient in an intimidating clinical setting.  I have been in private practice for years.  Prior to that, I worked as the Clinical Director at a residential facility, where we scored the highest score in Quality Assurance in the state of Florida in 2011.  I have worked as an adjunct professor at Edison State College, teaching psychology and Human Growth and Development for over two years.I also worked as a Psychological Specialist for the Department of Juvenile Justice for six years
prior to that.

I gained experience working with couples and families after opening a private practice once I became licensed. Clinically, I see families as systemic and focus on resolving underlying power struggles, emotional enmeshment, and dysfunction within relationships. My approach to resolving Mental Health issues is eclectic.  Identifying underlying pathology, irrational thinking and poor coping skills leads to cognitive restructuring and more solution focused thinking. I have actively treated clients suffering from substance abuse and mental health problems for the past 11 years. I currently serve as Clinical Director at a local rehab center in Ft. Lauderdale.
Areas of Interest: I am most passionate about the counseling process itself given the significant life changes that are produced from the process. Perhaps I am most intrigued with addressing Mental Health issues given the depth of emotional dysfunction that is a part of it.

Clinical experience: My supervision experience for licensure was a struggle for me due to him not being engaged with me through education and the clinical guidance that I wanted.  Therefore, I make a point to educate and guide through this process.  My primary goal is to prepare you for the Florida examination and teach you the clinical skills needed to be successful in private practice.  While I have done agency work and provided supervision during that time I would be best suited for someone moving towards clinical private practice. I have been doing this for almost 5 years now and I enjoy the work of seeing clients grow in skill building and return to a normal level of functioning.  An hour of supervision with me would include a warm greeting, clinical concerns through classwork or individual counseling, and preparation for the Florida examination.  I consider myself easy going and non-judgmental.  I have a curious thirst to be the best psychotherapist I can be by reading journals and attending seminars throughout the year to keep up with the latest trends and research in the field. My supervision session fee is $55

Clinical experience: I have been working in the field of mental health since 2005.  I have experience providing mental health and substance abuse treatment working as a clinician in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and in the school setting.  I have worked with individuals as young as 6 years old, all the way up to the elderly.  However, my passion truly lies in adults and young adults/adolescents.  I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Applied Behavior Analysis, Motivational Interviewing, Life Goals Collaborative Care, Love & Logic Parenting, and Depression Prevention (Managing Your Mood). My work has included individual, group, and family therapy.  I have been involved in creating and implementing a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy program for adolescents who suffered from mood disorders and were chronically homicidal and/or suicidal.  Furthermore, I helped implement an integrated health program, working as a behavioral health professional in a medical office. Most recently, I worked as a clinical program manager of a Day Treatment Program for troubled and at-risk youth and as a Behavior Analyst assisting children with autism and their families.
Areas of Interest: My areas of interest include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mood disorders, individuation, and family therapy.  I am fluent in Spanish and take a special interest in issues involving acculturation and its effect on family structure and communication.
